Revitalizing Sokoto’s Environmental Efforts: A New Dawn Under S.A SEPA

September 15, 2023 — In key locations across Sokoto, including Kalambaina Road, Gawon Nama Area, and Ali Akilu Road, a remarkable transformation is underway under the leadership of Hon. Tukur Toro, the newly appointed Senior Advisor (S.A) for the Sokoto Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA).

Upon assuming office, Hon. Tukur Toro found SEPA in a challenging state, with essential equipment and resources in disrepair. Recognizing the urgent need for action, he initiated immediate repairs on 40 tricycles, 11 trucks, and 2 field loaders, restoring them to operational status and enabling a more efficient waste management process.

Since the formation of the new committee and Hon. Toro’s appointment, SEPA has facilitated the removal of an impressive 227,000 trips of refuse from the streets. This monumental effort reflects the agency’s commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier Sokoto and signifies a renewed focus on environmental sustainability under the current administration.

The achievements so far are just the beginning, with further plans underway to address waste management challenges across the state.
