Turning the Tide: Hon. Tukur Toro’s Efforts to Address Years of Neglected Waste

On October 20, 2023, Hon. Tukur Toro, the Senior Advisor for the Sokoto Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), undertook a critical assignment in the Felin Sukuwa area. As part of his mission, Hon. Toro oversaw the evacuation of approximately 7,600 trips of neglected refuse—waste that had been accumulating over the past six years under the previous administration.

This major cleanup effort was carried out under the guidance of the committee led by Ambassador Alhaji Dr. Umarun Kwabo A.A, known as Jarman Sokoto, with Hon. Toro serving as the committee’s supervisor. The operation marked a significant step towards restoring the area’s environmental standards and was part of an ongoing commitment to improve waste management in Sokoto State. Hon. Toro’s work highlights the determination of SEPA to address long-standing environmental challenges and pave the way for a cleaner, healthier Sokoto.
